Coles Pond Camp, Walden, VT: Now Renting Summer 2017
The Camp
Relax at this seasonal, rustic, waterfront camp free of modern distractions. The camp sits on the shore of beautiful and clean 109 acre Coles Pond. Spend the day paddling, swimming and fishing. In the evening, enjoy the sunset as you sit around the the campfire. Under the vast night sky, stargaze, identifying constellations and looking for shooting stars. And drift to sleep listening to the cry of the loons. The next day, repeat.
True to the decade in which it was built, this cozy camp has a wood paneled interior.
There are three bedrooms inside the main house. The main bedroom upstairs (one queen bed) has a small deck which overlooks the pond. The other two rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, are in the back of the house and have two twin beds each. A bunk house, connected by a walkway, is also accessible. It can sleep up to four kids, but bring along a pillow and sleeping bag for them!
The magic of the place lies in the outdoors. Eat at the large picnic table on the deck overlooking Coles Pond. A pedal boat, paddle board, canoe and kayak (and life vests), are available for your use, as well as lawn games and a basketball hoop. Wildlife abounds.
The Northeast Kingdom
If you can pull yourself away from the pond, you will find yourself surrounded by the wonderful things that the Northeast Kingdom offers. Try hiking and biking on the magnificent NEK trails, shop a local farmers market, see Bread and Puppet, stop by the Museum of Everyday Life, watch a summer stock theater production, find a creemee stand, visit Vermont's beautiful nearby towns, explore the back roads, have a drink at Hill Farmstead Brewery, etc.
